Another Day to Live Down in History

I realize I have not written in awhile and I may lose some acquaintances, followers, and respect after I write the following post. However, I feel that something must be said with our day and country today in mind.

July 4, 1776 - The signing of America's Declaration of Independence
December 7, 1941 - The Japanese bombing of Americans on Pearl Harbor
January 22, 1973 - The decision to legalize abortion
September 11, 2001 - The terrorist attack that destroyed and harmed New
                                     York City, the World Trade Center, and the Pentagon
November 4, 2008 - The election of our presiding and first African American
                                  President, Mr. Barack Obama

These, among many others, are all dates that will be written on the pages of history books for generations to come. Today marks another one of those dates.

 June 26, 2015 - The decision to make homosexual marriage a legal and civil
                           right in all 50 states

Social media feeds, news headlines, blog posts, and national websites are being flooded with the recent news of the supreme court decision. Marriage today and forever has been redefined as love between two people regardless of the gender. However, the Bible states something different.

Genesis 1:27-28 says,

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. "

and Genesis 2:21-24 says,

"And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;
And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.
And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

Here we see God's original plan. When He created Adam and Eve in the garden, He made male and female. When He did that, He planned on them being fruitful, multiplying, replenishing, subduing, and cleaving to one another. According to God's plan, it was one man and one woman. There was nothing else and no other plans, desires, or ideas.

Later on in Genesis 18 & 19, we see the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. There, the people were desperately wicked. They had unnatural desires for the same gender and there could not be found even ten righteous people in the land. Thus, God rained fire and brimstone upon the twin cities and destroyed the wickedness that was within.

Romans 1:19-32 says,
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

Here we see clearly stated that homosexuality, among several other sins, is ungodly, unrighteous, unglorifying to God, foolish, unclean, dishonorable to the body, selfish, vile, unnatural, lustful, unseemly, of error, reprobate, and inconvenient.

Finally, 1 Corinthians 7:3-4 says,
Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband.
The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

According to God's Word and God's original plan, He did not intend for male or female to marry or have intimacy with someone of the same gender. The country and the supreme court has taken something that is not only physically wrong, but is also morally and spiritually wrong, then has made the decision to make it right. A quick glance at reader's comments on news pages and articles shows as one comment stated, "I have tears of happiness, now my oldest son has the same rights as my other two sons....Beautiful Day!! I have been praying for this for so long <3"

People literally have been praying for this decision to come to pass. Now, God has allowed those prayers to be answered, and while people are rejoicing, crying tears of joy, and praising God for this event, America will face some consequences as a result.

Christians will have to make a choice. Will they compromise with the ways of the world and the decision of the supreme court, or will they take a stand for what God's Word clearly states, and truly is right in the sight of God? Someday, in the not so distant future, those Christians who take a stand will face utter persecution. People of the LGBT community will want to get married in churches, join churches, or even become a faculty member of churches who do not share the same beliefs as them. If those churches do not marry them, allow them to become members, or hire them, then the church will either be forced to compromise, forced to shut down, or the pastor, leader, or laymen will be sent to jail and persecuted for their faith. The decision the supreme court made was not a constitutional decision. In fact, as one of the judges stated, it is not even the supreme court's right to make a decision like this. It was not about ethics, morals, or even equality. This was a decision surrounded by spiritual warfare, and Satan will not stop fighting until he has fully been defeated.

Second, Mr. Obama stated in his speech regarding the supreme court decision, it was "A victory for gay and lesbian couples that fought so long for their basic civil rights, a victory for their children whose families will now be recognized as equal to any other. It's a victory for the allies, the friends, and supporters who spent years and even decades working and praying for change to come; and this ruling is a victory for America" While it may temporarily seem like a victory, it will seem in the future as a defeat for many other important matters. Later on in his speech, Mr. Obama said, "There is so much more work to be done to extend the full promise of America to every American, but today we can say in no uncertain terms that our union is a little more perfect""What a reminder of what Bobby Kennedy once said about how small actions can be like pebbles being thrown into a still lake. Ripples of hope cascade outwards and change the world" What a ripple effect this decision will be. Now that the rights of homosexuality has been changed, only God can say what else will be changed. The rights of Christians, missionaries, or servants of God could be changed. The rights of murderers, adulterers, or thieves could changed. Anything could happen, simply because America has taken their eyes off God, and in the end, America could crumble to destruction.

Finally, God will judge the choices of America. There are countless examples in the Bible of people and lands, along with Sodom and Gomorrah, .who were destroyed because they followed their own desires, plans, and ways, instead of the instructions and will of God. If America continues down the road which they have been goiing, their lives and nation will be destroyed, instead of being blessed. (Psalm 33:12)

So what can Christians do in regards to this important decision?

First, the LGBT community fought for equality rights. The fact is, all humans are equal. They were all born with a heart of sin, from a man and woman with a life of sin, into a world full of sin. Whether the person is a thief, adulterer, liar, rebel, or homosexual, that person has sin in their life, and there has to be a penalty to pay for it. However, God loved each person equally. He did not see them as thieves, adulterers, liars, rebels, straight, bisexual, or homosexual, but instead as someone who needed to be saved from their sin. So, Christians today should remember that they are all on equal footing. Whether a person was once a sinner, and is now saved by Grace, or is still a sinner and in need of a Savior, they all, at one time, had a void that could only be filled by Christ.

Second, as a Christian who has been saved by Grace, they should still love the sinner Since they know that God loved them, they should show other people God's love as well. When Jesus was here on earth, He never once rebuked people for their sin. His focus was not on the bad things that they were doing, but instead on the good things that God had done, was doing, and would continue to do. So, Christians today should do the same. Instead of looking down on people and treating them as any less than they really are, love them, and lead them to Christ. Then, God could open a door to tell those people about what God has done and can do for them.

Thirdly, and finally, Christians should stand strong. When the time comes to make a choice, they should be proud to stand for what is right. As Peter said in Acts 5:29, "We ought to obey God rather than men. "  There is only one lawgiver, God, and one law, His Holy Word. So, instead of compromising with the way of the world, and the decision that a group of men and women made, Christians should stand secure in God's perfect hand, and be obedient to His will for their lives. Persecution may come, trial and tribulation may come, and eventually, the faith of believers could end in death, but God is in control. He knows everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen, and He works it all together for good. They should not back up, slack up, pack up, or shut up, until God calls them home. If that is done, the lives of those people could be used as a testimony to the world.

This article was not written to bash homosexuality nor to protest the decision of the supreme court; and while in accordance with God and His Word, the decision was wrong, this article was intended for the purpose of encouraging Christians. God is eternally on the throne, and whether trial, tribulation, or persecution come, God will always be on the throne. In the end, no matter what man, woman, government, or nation may say, from reading God's word it is evident to see, He will always win.
